Denisa Lehocka

2009.03.13 - 2009.04.30

In keeping with Denisa Lehocka's artistic practice, „Untitled” is a part of a larger body of work, a trace in an open system of ongoing recordings of her experience and observations. The work seem like an „entry”in a series of registrations of the momentary state of things examined via introspection and the strictly personal references of the artist. (...)”Untitled”could be considered an unobtrusive proposal to look at what's around us in the sense of personalized topography and poetic possibilities.

The installation is a composition of elements that Denisa Lehocka had produced earlier and brought with her with the ones she has created while preparations to this show. Each object has got its own place, chosen carefully by the artist, according to her intuition and the context of a place - the gallery and the city. She would like this work to resemble a jazz improvisation, still with more empathy and sensitiveness rather than spontaneity of freestyle. This repetitive ritual makes the project enhanced each day with a new element; a quick sketch, a stone or another layer on plaster objects. The layer structure of Lehocka's works recalls the structure of human memory. While passing through the space filled with symbolic compositions one can generate associations. This process is similar to interpretation of Rorschach colour inkblots. The artist refers to this psychological practice quite directly in some of her drawings and fabric paintings. Lehocka likes to call her installation a visual portrait of herself as a woman, mother, wife and artist.
